Blackhawks Acquire David Toews From Isles

Jonathan Toews has lived up to expectations. The Blackhawks are hoping his brother is made of the same stuff. The team acquired 21-year-old David Toews from the Islanders on Friday for future considerations. The younger brother of the Blackhawks' captain had 20 goals and 28 assists last season for the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL.

Coyotes Acquire Marc Cheverie From Panthers

Coyotes GM Don Maloney announced Thursday that the Coyotes have acquired goaltender Marc Cheverie from the Panthers in exchange for center Justin Bernhardt. Cheverie split the 2010-11 season between the Cincinnati Cyclones of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) and the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League (AHL). Cheverie spent three seasons with the University of Denver (2007-10), playing in 80 regular season games, posting a record of 48-18-8. He led the Pioneers to three consecutive NCAA tournament appearances from 2008-2010. Bernhardt appeared in 47 games for the Las Vegas Wranglers (ECHL) in 2010-11. He signed as an unrestricted free agent with the Coyotes on April 13, 2009.
